The Staff Senate at Arkansas State University-Beebe recently presented the Spring 2022 Staff Vanguard Traveling Award to Michelle Rollins, Instructor and Career Services Provider for the Adult Education Department.
Even though Rollins’ main office is on the Searcy campus, she often travels to the other Adult Education centers, located at Beebe, Heber Springs and Augusta to assist students.
Rollins’ nomination stated: “Michelle is dedicated to student success. She is a career services provider who helps Adult Education students plan for their future after earning their GED. She enrolls them in the WAGE certificate program, which teaches about digital and financial literacy and employability skills. She has worked with students to build their resumes, find employment, and more. Michelle is always there with a kind word of encouragement for all students. She has gone with students to a different campus location to find other offices they will need as they move forward toward enrolling in credit classes, explaining about how to get help with financial aid, tutoring, and more.”
Rollins earned a bachelor’s degree in education, and is certified to teach in preK-4, elementary, and Adult Education. “My hope is that I can impact others with encouragement and empowerment,” said Rollins. She said her favorite quote is “Always assume the best in people.”
Rollins is active in her community, assisting Jacob’s Place clients to obtain a workforce certificate or GED if needed, and is involved in her church choir and pre-k to first grade classes. This summer, she is a volunteer at the ASU-Beebe Vanguard Discovery Camp.
The Staff Senate Staff Vanguard Traveling Award recognizes staff members’ contributions to the overall objectives, values, and goals of the college while promoting positive staff relations, improving morale, and increasing productivity.
The award is presented to an outstanding staff member in recognition of dedication, integrity, valor, and excellence in their job and to ASU-Beebe.
