Suicide Prevention
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students with more than 1,000 students committing suicide each year on a college campus. Additionally, according to a recent study from the Centers for Disease Control and Infection, U.S. adults reported considerably elevated adverse mental health conditions associated with Covid-19 – with younger adults reported having experienced disproportionately worse mental health outcomes, increased substance use, and elevated suicidal ideation.

Faculty/Staff Referrals
Many students seek counseling with the encouragement of faculty and staff. Professors and staff are often aware of a student who may benefit from meeting with a professional counselor. If you feel a student is at an immediate risk of harm to themselves or others, call Campus Safety at 501.882.8851 or 911.
Have a colleague accompany you while you wait for Campus Safety to respond. You may then call a counselor at 501.882.4434 or 501.207.6276.
