Altec Technician Education Program

Altec is partnering with Arkansas State University-Beebe in Searcy, Arkansas, to launch the Altec Technician Education Program. ASU-Beebe is among the most highly rated technical training schools in the United States with state-of-the-art training equipment. Students will learn how to troubleshoot, repair and service equipment that Altec customers use to build and maintain utility lines across the nation and in numerous foreign countries.

In addition to classroom learning, the Altec Technician Education Program may also involve a paid internship in which students will work side by side with seasoned technicians in Altec’s Mobile Service Group, or at one of Altec's more than 40 Service Centers across the nation.

Trained service technicians are essential workers, helping to make sure Altec equipment is ready to continue maintaining our nation’s critical infrastructures. The equipment helps utility companies and line contractors keep America moving forward by ensuring the lights in homes, hospitals, grocery stores and businesses stay on.

Altec Technician Education Program Details

The Altec Technician Education Program partnership is a 12-month residential program, wherein Altec recruits and hires individuals interested in pursuing a career in their maintenance technician field.  Successful applicants are then sponsored by Altec to attend training at ASU-Beebe's Searcy, Arkansas campus in the college's diesel technician program.  Students are provided housing, meals, books and a stipend while attending the program.  Summers incorporate the paid internship time at one of Altec's service centers where participants will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with seasoned Altec service professionals.

In the fall, program participants will return to ASU-Beebe for the second year of the training where students get much more hands-on training in troubleshooting and repairing medium and heavy-duty truck systems including: electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, engine and powertrain, suspension and electronic systems analysis.

Training with State-of-the-Art Equipment
