Student Art Show Winners

Students from the Art Department at Arkansas State University-Beebe recently received awards following the ASU-Beebe Student Art Show and Exhibit.


The art works were judged on correct use of perspective, contrast, use of color, and creativity. The winners were announced as follows:


Painting I: First place, Carolanne Griffin of El Paso, graphic design; second place, Amber Simpson of Searcy, liberal arts; and third place, Carolanne Griffin. Honorable mention was Amber Simpson.


Painting II: First place, Jennifer Griffin of Jacksonville, liberal arts; second place, Alexis Reed of Austin, graphic design; and third place, Laverne Hale of Searcy, liberal arts. Honorable mentions were Bob Guess of Hazen and Dana Hanna of Letona, both non-degree seeking, and Laverne Hale.


Drawing I: First place, Prasit Kumget of Cabot, graphic design; second place, Jordan Lakin of Cabot, liberal arts; and third place, Ryan Clark of Carlisle, liberal arts. Honorable mentions were Prasit Kumget and Alex Cox of McRae, graphic design.  


Ceramics I: First place, Karen Debaun of Augusta, non-degree seeking; second place, Samuel Webb of Searcy, criminal justice; and third place, Amber Simpson. Honorable mentions were Alexis Reed; Maygun Harvey of Beebe, animal science; and Demey Taylor of Cabot, liberal arts.


Ceramics II: First place, Ashley Bures of Jacksonville, teaching; second place, Dana Hanna; and third place, Amanda Fleming of Beebe, non-degree seeking. Honorable mentions were Amanda Fleming and Ashley Watson of Cabot, graphic design


The England Center Art Gallery exhibits works of art by students and featured artists throughout the academic year. The gallery, located at the corner of Center and Orange Streets in Beebe, is open to the public, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
