Chancellor’s Collection Art Awards
Published: June 01 2017

Winners were recently announced for the Chancellor’s Collection Art Awards at Arkansas State University-Beebe. Representative pieces from each class category were displayed in the Chancellor’s office for the spring semester.

Dr. Karla Fisher, chancellor of ASU-Beebe said, “Our students created some amazing pieces, and demonstrated their creativity in each category.  It has been a pleasure to display their works in the university office.”

This is the first exhibit for this new award program which Fisher says she created to not only motivate art students to new heights, but also to provide a rotating art exhibit of fresh works on display for visitors to the university’s administrative offices.

Student show winners from class categories such as: Graphic Illustration, Photography, Graphic Design, Ceramics, Painting and Drawing were chosen to be displayed as part of the Chancellor’s Collection.  The winners were selected by the Chancellor and a faculty committee.  Winners were designated as Best of Show, 1st Runner Up and 2nd Runner Up.

Best in Show was presented to Chris Jones of Searcy for a pencil drawing self-portrait.  1st Runner Up was presented to Frances Huddleston for a perceptual painting of popcorn.  2nd Runner Up was presented to Nikki Humphries, a TRIO program student at Beebe for a hand-thrown pottery vase.  Each winner was presented a certificate and a prize of $75, $50 and $25 respectively.
