The computerized machining technology program will provide students with the knowledge for designing, prototyping and manufacturing machined parts. By working with computer numerical control (CNC) machine technologies, students are able to make tools, dies, molds, and other objects using 3D printing, high-tech lathes, or milling equipment. SolidWorks and MasterCam software are used to design parts, while lathe and mill machines manufacture the designed parts. 

Program Outcomes

  • Manually machine a part from a print to a tolerance of +-.010.
  • Produce orthographic views using current software.
  • Interpret a blueprint that used GD&T tolerances.
  • Opportunity to get an industry recognized certification. 
  • Write a basic CNC program from a print.
  • Set up a CNC machine, download a program to the CNC machine and run a part to a tolerance of +-.005.
