The diesel technology program trains students to repair and maintain farm equipment, industrial equipment, heavy-duty trucks and other heavy equipment. There is an increasing demand for mechanics in this field due to the growth in diesel engines used in everyday vehicles, mobile equipment and farming equipment. 

Program Outcomes

  • Perform Inspections per DOT/OEM specifications on medium/heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and heavy-duty equipment.
  • Perform electrical and computer diagnostic/troubleshooting procedures on medium/heavy-duty vehicles as well as heavy-duty equipment.
  • Perform HVAC diagnostics, identification, and repair on R134a systems.
  • Perform inspection, diagnostics, identification, and repairs on air, hydraulic, ABS, and electronic stability control systems on medium/heavy trucks and trailers.
  • Perform component identification, repair/rebuild, and diagnostics on medium/heavy-duty diesel engines and aftertreatment devices.
  • Perform inspection, diagnostics, identification, and repairs on medium/heavy-duty steering and suspension components.
