Instruction & Reference Services
The library is here to help our academic community as the amount of information expands exponentially. Below are some types of classes or sessions offered at the library.

Library instruction sessions are specifically designed for a library assignment. The session usually lasts one class period and includes a lecture and discussion with active learning exercises. Some exercises may go beyond the class period, depending on the class and instructor.

Demonstrations on various library databases are available to all on a first-come, first-served basis. Some sessions include the library catalog, Academic Search Premier, OverDrive and ScienceDirect, among others. Other topics are added as needed or by request.

General tours review the basics of the library including what we have and where things are.

Faculty information sessions are designed for departments or individual faculty members who want an overview of the types of materials that we have in general or in their discipline. To schedule a library instruction session, tour, faculty information session or class use with no library instruction, call 501.882.8959 or fill out the schedule library instruction form.

Library research guides cover various subject areas, from database search guides to documentation styles to subject-specific resources. These guides are available online at https://libguides.asub.edu. Tutorials for the library's online products are also available at https://libguides.asub.edu/tutorials.

Reference services are provided on all subject areas in-person, via telephone or online via Zoom upon request. Call 501.882.8959 or fill out the ask a librarian form.
