AutoCAD Level I - 16 Hours

AutoCAD is well known for the ability to create, edit or customize technical drawings in both two and three dimensional workspace. Learn the basic features of AutoCAD that include opening existing drawings, modifying drawings and creating new drawings. This course will introduce you to the AutoCAD interface, drawing commands, modify commands, drawing organization and plotting.

Basic Electrical Level I - 24 Hours

In response to the needs of industrial partners in our service areas, and in cooperation with their maintenance leadership teams, this training provides a basic level training for individuals that are looking to increase their level of understanding in basic electricity. This course is designed to provide the foundational knowledge and practice to improve current skills or introduce a participant to the fundamentals of electricity. This course covers basic topics such as introduction to electricity, electrical safety, electrical diagrams and schematics, electrical measuring instruments, Alternating Current (AC), Direct Current (DC), wiring and connector techniques and basic principles of motor controls. This course can be customized to fit industry need.

Basic Programmable Logic Controllers - 16 Hours

Programmable Logic Controllers are prevalent throughout most manufacturing and industrial environments. This class will provide an introduction to programmable logic controllers as used in industrial environments including basic concepts, programming, applications, troubleshooting of ladder logic and interfacing of equipment. Participants will be able to explain terminology, select hardware components, predict PLC operation based on ladder logic diagrams and program a PLC to perform various control functions through computer simulations or a training device.

Basics of Welding - 40 Hours

This class is 40-hours and meets typically between the hours of 6 and 10 p.m. during the week. This class prepares students for the American Welding Society (AWS) certification test in various welding processes. Cost includes tuition, supplies and certification fees. Students must supply their own welder's helmet with at least a #10 lens and gauntlet style gloves. Please note that topics and techniques covered in class can be modified to fit current welding ability and interests.

Blueprint Reading Basics - 12 Hours

The blueprint reading class is designed to cover the foundational skills needed to understand blueprints utilized in multiple industry settings. All construction and maintenance professionals, regardless of whether they are working in the field or in the office, must know how to read blueprints. Blueprint reading is not terribly difficult but it does require practice and some basic knowledge of blueprints. This course is designed to provide you with foundational knowledge and practice at reading blueprints. Mastery of blueprint reading will come with practice and using blueprints on the job on a regular basis.

CAD/CAM I - 35 Hours

In this course, students will learn the MasterCAM software and the skills needed to accurately design parts. Once the design is completed, students will learn how to toolpath parts, preparing them for machining. Students will follow through in the shop, gaining experience running the various milling machines, including creating a two dimensional mill part and lathe part, various toolpathing methods and posting the toolpath file to run the part on a machine.

CNC I - 35 Hours

Students will learn about advanced and shortcut methods of programming, such as the repeat function, subroutine function, rotate function and how to scale and mirror a program. Students will spend time writing, entering and editing programs. Students will gain a basic understanding of subroutines, the ability to offset tools and work pieces, and a basic understanding of G and M codes.

Cybersecurity - 2 Hours

With threats to sensitive and confidential company information occurring on a daily basis, there is a need to keep your team informed about the multiple facets of cyber security. This course can be customized to the needs of your company based on what you consider to be a security concern. This course has the flexibility to cover a diverse range of topics including, but not limited to, how attacks can occur, network and hacker threats, malware, adware and spyware, firewalls and perimeter defense, intrusion detection and prevention, and wireless security. Whether you are a small, medium or large business, we offer customized training and education needed for your employees to make better decisions with anything involving the internet.

Electrical Apprenticeship - 144 Hours

The state of Arkansas requires a person working in the electrical field to either have a journeyman or master electrician license or be enrolled in an approved electrical apprenticeship program working toward that goal. At ASU-Beebe Heber Springs camps, a four-year electrical apprenticeship program is offered. The program is designed for those working in the electrical field and interested in obtaining an electrical journeyman's license. The courses are taught by instructors with years of combined experience in the field and in the classroom based on a program designed by a local electrical committee with approval by the Arkansas Department of Career Education State Apprenticeship Office.

To qualify for the electrical apprenticeship program, students must be employed by a master electrician and gaining 2,000 on-the-job training hours per year. Once employed under the supervision of a master electrician, a student has thirty (30) days to enroll in a state approved apprenticeship program.

Enrollment: Open year round. All classes are August through May.
Tuition/Cost: $325 per year (cost established by Electrical Apprenticeship Board).
Certification Requirements: Successfully complete the mandated 144 instruction hours per year for a total of 576 classroom hours.
Class Schedule: Tuesdays, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance I - 3 Hours

Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is used as a symbolic way of showing specific tolerances on drawings. GD&T is a valuable tool that, if used correctly, can effectively communicate the design intent to manufacturing and inspection. It is governed by the technical standard ASME Y14.5-2009. This course provides a fundamental introduction to the GD&T system, provides a working knowledge of the correct interpretation and application of each symbol, general rules and the datum system. The instructional material is reinforced with hands-on practice exercises. This course can be customized to fit industry need.

Plumbing Apprenticeship - 160 Hours

The state of Arkansas requires a person working in the plumbing field must either have a journeyman or master plumber license or be enrolled in an approved plumbing apprenticeship program working toward that goal.

At ASU-Beebe Heber Springs campus, we offer a four-year plumbing apprenticeship program designed for those working in the plumbing field and interested in obtaining a plumbing journeyman's license. Our courses are taught by instructors with years of combined experience in the field and in the classroom based on a program designed by the Heber Springs Plumbing Apprenticeship Committee with approval by the Arkansas Department of Career Education State Apprenticeship Office.

To qualify for the plumbing apprenticeship program, students must be employed by a master plumber and gaining 2,000 on-the-job training hours per year. Once employed under the supervision of a master plumber, a student has thirty (30) days to enroll in a state approved apprenticeship program.

Enrollment: Open year round. Classes run August through March.
Tuition/ Cost: $300 per year.
Certification Requirements: Successfully complete the mandated 160 instruction hours per year for four years, a total of 640 classroom hours.
Class Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6 to 9 p.m.
