Student Named 2025 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar

John Cameron Shaver, a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, has been selected as 2025 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar and will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
 
Shaver, from Harrisburg, is a health sciences major. He plans to transfer to Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and pursue a bachelor’s degree in pre-veterinary medicine toward a career as a wildlife veterinarian.
 
The Leaders of Promise Scholarship Program was launched in 2001 to assist new Phi Theta Kappa members obtain an associate degree and encourage participation in society programs.  
 
A panel of independent judges selected this year’s recipients from more than 600 applicants. Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars are selected based on outstanding academic achievement and demonstrated leadership potential.
 
“Today, the Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship is more relevant than ever as the organization, colleges, and communities actively encourage the completion of a college credential, an associate degree, or a certificate among college students,” said Lynn Tincher-Ladner, president and chief executive officer of PTK.
 
The Leaders of Promise Scholarship, sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, recognizes 200 Phi Theta Kappa members with awards totaling $200,000. Twenty-five of these scholarships are earmarked for society members who are active personnel or veterans of the U.S. Military.

About ASU-Beebe Phi Theta Kappa
The ASU-Beebe Beta Omega Alpha Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society received their charter from the national PTK president and CEO Lynn Tincher-Ladner in April 2022. At the end of 2022, the ASU-Beebe PTK chapter was one of seven PTK chapters out of 41 chapters in the Oklahoma/Arkansas regional division and one of 196 chapters out of 1,270 chapters in the U.S. and Pacific region to reach the highest five-star level.
