Posted Date: 3/18/26

ASU–Beebe proudly announces that its heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) technology technical certificate program on the Searcy campus has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as an Energy Skilled™ training provider in the category of heat pump installation.
This designation allows technicians who complete recognized training or pass an approved exam, to receive an invitation to apply to be listed in the Energy Skilled™ Google Search Tool, allowing homeowners to easily identify trusted professionals in their area.
“Our students have been successfully passing the DOE-recognized HVAC Excellence Heat Pump Employment Ready Exam since April of last year,” said Brad Cooper, advanced instructor of the HVACR technology program. “Rigorous training coupled with the Energy Skilled™ recognition provides our graduates with stackable industry credentials and career ready skills.”
Through the DOE collaboration with Google, contractors who employ Energy Skilled™–recognized technicians will appear in Google Search and Google Maps with an Energy Skilled™ badge. This partnership helps highlight high?quality training programs and the skilled workforce they produce.
The ASU-Beebe HVACR technology program curriculum enables students to earn a certificate of proficiency or a technical certificate, integrating ground source heat pump training and measureQuick diagnostics into the course design, which connects students with cutting-edge tools and mentorship.
“With the increased demand for energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, we are preparing our students to fill an expected industry shortage of highly skilled HVACR technicians who can properly install and maintain these advanced systems,” said Cooper.
ASU-Beebe’s Energy Skilled™ recognition is valid through August 2028.
