ASU-Beebe has announced early bird registration for the 2026 Vanguard Discovery Camp is now open.
This three-day hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) camp is designed for students entering grades four through six and offers an engaging, no-pressure learning environment encouraging curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving.
The Vanguard Discovery Camp provides an engaging environment where students explore STEAM topics through hands-on experiences. The camp encourages teamwork, critical thinking, and a love for lifelong learning while building friendships and igniting a passion for discovery.
Camp sessions will be held at three ASU-Beebe campus locations: Heber Springs from June 2-4, Beebe from June 9-11, and Searcy from June 16-18. We anticipate these camps to fill up fast with each location.
Activities throughout the camp will include art, first aid training, engineering, cooking, snap circuits, mad scientist experiments, and more. In the afternoons, students will participate in building a Pinewood Derby Car. The students will sand their cars to enhance design and aerodynamics, paint their cars, add weights to enhance speed, and race their cars to test the designs.
"The Vanguard Discovery Camp provides students with a unique opportunity to experience STEAM learning in a hands-on, interactive way," said Heather Stogner, ASU-Beebe director of workforce and community development. "Allowing the campers to spend time on their local community college campuses increases their knowledge of future educational opportunities.”
In addition to the ASU-Beebe Allied Health programs, ASU-Beebe partners with many local businesses, including Entergy, Danfoss, Schulze & Burch, and others, to enhance each session of the Vanguard Discovery Camp. These partnerships provide valuable hands-on experiences, industry insights, and real-world applications of STEAM concepts, helping to inspire and educate the next generation of innovators. Through these collaborations, students gain exposure to potential career pathways while engaging in meaningful, interactive learning.
At the end of the camp, families are invited to a special end-of-week celebration event at 4:30 p.m., with student presentations beginning at 5 p.m. These celebrations are sponsored by First Security Bank locations in Heber Springs, Beebe, and Searcy.
Early bird registration is available for $90 through April 1. After April 1, the price will increase to $100. Space is limited, so families are encouraged to register early to secure a spot.
Registration is limited, and the camp fills quickly. To secure a spot, visit https://events.ticketleap.com/events/asubcommunity
