Singers and Chamber Singers to Present Dec. 5 Holiday Concert

The Arkansas State University-Beebe department of music will present the Singers and Chamber Singers in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the Owen Center theater. The concert is free and open to the public. The Owen Center is located on the ASU-Beebe campus at 1102 West College Street. 

The choral groups are under the direction of Jeffrey Thames, instructor of choral music. Members include Lexi Anderson from Jonesboro; Emma Bertram from Morrilton; Bradlee Burroughs from Beebe; Kaylee Collins from Cabot; Clarissa Cook from Beebe; Ebony DeGree from Austin; Reagan Dykes from Cabot; Avery Foard from Cabot; Bricen Green from Heber Springs; Jennifer Hawks from San Antonio, Texas; Patrick Kordsmeier from Ward; Avery Litton from Greenbrier; Savannah Newberry from Heber Springs; Allie Pruett from Cabot; Alejandro Seaton from Gravel Ridge; Coralyn Taylor from Beebe; Blake Watson from Floyd; and Kinley Wilson from Searcy.  

The program will include selections spanning from Renaissance and contemporary motets to holiday favorites. Selections are: “Caroling, Caroling” and “All On a Christmas Morning” from the Alfred Burt Carols collection; “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” arr. Robert Shaw; “Thou O Jehovah, Abideth Forever“ by Aaron Copland; “O Magnum Mysterium” by T.L. Victoria; “The Lord Bless You and Keep You” by John Rutter; “Es Ist Ein Ros Entsprungen” by Michael Praetorius; “Deck The Halls” Traditional; “Angels We Have Heard On High” by Edward Barns; “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear” by R.S. Willis; and “O Little Town of Bethlehem” by Lewis Redner; “What Child Is This?” Traditional; “The First Noel” Traditional English Carol.  

ASU-Beebe is the only two-year college in central Arkansas that offers an Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) degree. The AFA degree has an emphasis in vocal music, instrumental music, theater or graphic design. This degree is a comprehensive two-year curriculum designed specifically for transfer toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. The AFA creative arts enterprise emphasis prepares students to enter the workforce with an associate degree.
