Dr. Cheryl Wiedmaier, dean of the Division of Career Education at Arkansas State University-Beebe, was recently honored to receive the Postsecondary Professional of the Year Award at the 2026 Arkansas Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), held in Hot Springs.
The Arkansas ACTE awards recognize individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the field, programs, divisions, and organizations that exemplify the highest standards and that have conducted activities to promote and expand career and technical education.
โWeโre excited to see Dr. Wiedmaier honored, for her incredible work,โ said Dr. Blake Perkins, vice chancellor for academics at ASU-Beebe. โDr. Wiedmaierโs recognition for this award reflects both her dedication to the students and to the areas of career and technical education.โ
Wiedmaier has been a member of the Arkansas Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) since 2002. She was nominated for the ACTE Postsecondary Professional of the Year Award based on outstanding contributions to career and technical programs in Arkansas. The ACTE supports areas in business, agriculture, construction, manufacturing, family and consumer sciences, technology, and drafting.
โI am very honored to receive this award,โ Dr. Wiedmaier said. โI believe career and technical education is critical to the success of our students as they enter the workforce, and it is a vital component of the success of business and industry in our communities and our country.โ
Wiedmaier has served as the dean of Career Education since the fall of 2019, where she has overseen the areas of study that include business, computer-aided drafting and design, computer information systems, computer systems & networking technology, computerized machining technology, agriculture, precision agriculture technology, John Deere agriculture equipment technology, criminal justice, automotive technology, diesel technology, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration, industrial technology, marine technology, power sports technology and welding technology.
