Arkansas State University-Beebe automotive technology student Constance Boyd was recently presented with a Wolverine x Metallica Scholars gear pack, which included Wolverine work boots from the Metallica Scholars Initiative.
“Constance is an extremely talented and outstanding student,” said Aaron Hicks, an automotive technology instructor at ASU-Beebe. “Growing up in what she described as an "unstable" environment, she has sought to find her path and has worked very hard to get there, earning the top first-year student position in the program and making her an ideal candidate for the MSI gear pack.”
Shortly after Boyd began classes at ASU-Beebe, she changed her major to automotive technology due to an interest in learning and developing skills in electric/hybrid vehicle technology. As a result of her talent and determination, Boyd won the state gold medal for pin design at the Arkansas SkillsUSA spring competition in Hot Springs.
After completing her second year and earning the associate of applied science degree, Boyd is determined to launch a rewarding career as a technician at an automotive dealership.
"This program has given me so much hope for the stable future I've always wanted,” Boyd said.
ASU-Beebe has received $125,000 to date from the Metallica Scholars Initiative, aimed at enhancing the student’s experience and career readiness in support of career and technical education programs.
