ASU-Beebe hosted a grand opening event for the Vanguard One Stop in the Dr. Eugene McKay Student Center on the Beebe campus on Sept. 28.
“We are very proud to offer this Vanguard One Stop,” said Dr. Jennifer Methvin, ASU-Beebe chancellor. “The convenience of smart phones, fast food and grocery pickups have altered our expectations of how services should be delivered. The One Stop will allow us to meet students’ needs with a high level of service provided in a convenient and timely manner. We will be able to serve more students and serve them better.”
The college was awarded a Title III Strengthening Institutions grant in 2022, which partially funded the renovation of a former bookstore in the student center to create the Vanguard One Stop.
“We pulled together a cross-functional team early in the spring 2023 to meet with our on-call architects at WER Architects. The folks at WER did an outstanding job of capturing the ideas presented at that time and were quickly able to develop drawings that accurately reflected the vision for the space,” said Roger Moore, vice chancellor for finance and administration.
After the bid process was completed, BMD contractors of Beebe was selected as the general contractor for the project and work began in May.
The renovations established the centralized location for students to take care of their needs related to admissions, financial aid, disability services and information technology services without visiting multiple campus buildings.
The Vanguard One Stop is also close to other student services, such as advising, tutoring, the campus cafeteria, providing comprehensive services to students in one physical location on the Beebe campus similar to the Heber Springs and Searcy campuses.
“We are now able to serve the needs of not only our students but the greater campus community as whole in a much more efficient and convenient manner,” said Moore.
