Arkansas State University-Beebe invites alumni, retirees, employees, former students and community members to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Ruth L. Couch during Dr. Ruth Couch Day: “A Walk Down Memory Lane” on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m.-noon. in the Ruth L. Couch Center, located at 210 Palm Street on the Beebe campus.
The come-and-go event will provide an opportunity for visitors to reconnect, reminisce and share stories about Dr. Couch and their own experiences at ASU-Beebe.
Throughout the event, ASU-Beebe will record individuals who would like to share a favorite memory of Dr. Couch, the college or their time as part of the ASU-Beebe community. The recordings will help preserve personal stories from ASU-Beebe’s history as the institution prepares to celebrate its Centennial in 2027.
“Some of the most important parts of ASU-Beebe’s history aren’t found in a book or a photograph—they are the stories people carry with them,” said Andrea Cole, associate vice chancellor for institutional advancement. “We want to capture those memories while we have the opportunity and preserve the voices of the people who helped make ASU-Beebe what it is today.”
Dr. Couch's influence remains an important part of ASU-Beebe's history, with the Ruth L. Couch Center on the Beebe campus bearing her name and continuing her legacy of service to the college.
Visitors do not need to prepare formal remarks. Participants are encouraged to simply share a story, memory or experience that stands out to them. Memories may be about Dr. Couch personally or about ASU-Beebe, including favorite professors, friendships, campus traditions, memorable moments or how the college influenced their lives.

The event is free and open to the public, and visitors may drop by anytime between 10 a.m. and noon.
The event is part of ASU-Beebe’s efforts to collect and preserve stories leading up to the college’s 100th anniversary in 2027. ASU-Beebe was founded in 1927 and will celebrate a century of education and service throughout its Centennial year.
