ASU-Beebe Students Receive Awards in SkillsUSA State Contests

Arkansas State University-Beebe students recently competed in the Arkansas SkillsUSA competitions and received awards at a ceremony held on April 16 in Hot Springs.
 
In heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration, college division, Alexander Langston from Searcy received third place.  
 
In marine service technology, college division, Eric Collins from Judsonia received first place; Lucas McClure from Quitman received second place; and Bailey Spinks from Drasco received third place. In the high school division, Matthew Ruther from Vilonia High School received first place; Drake Dee from Heber Springs High School received second place; and Sean Duncan from Heber Springs High School received third place.
 
In general welding technology, college division, Hannidy Mills from Beebe received third place.
 
In diesel engine technology, college division, Brennan Gustin from Searcy received first place; and Caden Ring from Austin received second place. In the high school division, Rolando Perez from Pangburn High School received first place; and Brandon Underwood from Rose Bud High School received third place.
 
In diesel job skills demonstration, college division, John Shadell from Mayflower received first place; and Lane Rudesill from Griffithville received third place.
 
In automated manufacturing, college division, Jeremiah Donnell from Searcy, Conner Yancey from Pangburn and Enrique Hernandez from Higginson, all received first place. In the high school division, Kylan Elliott from Cabot High School, Josh Jones from Riverview High School and Gaebral Lewis from Searcy High School, all received third place.
 
In CNC 3 Axis Programming, college division, Conor Graves from McCrory received second place; and Evan Soles from Searcy received third place. 
 
In automotive parts specialists, college division, Evan White from Beebe received second place.
 
In automotive maintenance and light repair, high school division, Terron Gambetta from Beebe High School received second place and Jackson Dillon from Beebe High School received third place.
 
In power equipment technology, college division, Jesse Lemons from Cabot received first place and Nick Bush from Newport received second place. In the high school division, Aden Lemons from Cabot received second place.
 
In power equipment technology job interview, college division, Spencer Chapel from Benton received second place.
 
In addition, high school students attending the Regional Career Center at the Lonoke Business Academy received several awards.
 
Andrew Wiencek received first place in related technical math; Wesley Clifton received second place in diesel technology; and Maria Avila received second place and Rosie Moysh received third place in job interview skills.
 
First place winners of the state contests have the opportunity to represent their respective schools and the state of Arkansas at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference on June 23-27 in Atlanta, Georgia.
 
SkillsUSA is a national membership association open to high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations, and for further education. SkillsUSA is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Labor as a successful model of employer-driven workforce development.
