ASU-Beebe Honors Employees and Retirees for 516 Combined Years of Service

Arkansas State University-Beebe celebrated employees during the annual employee appreciation event at the Beebe campus on Wednesday, May 7.
 
A group of 34 faculty and staff members were recognized, and retirees were honored for their 516 combined years of service at ASU-Beebe campuses located at Beebe, Heber Springs, Searcy and the Little Rock Air Force Base. 
 
“It is always gratifying to pause our hectic schedules for a few hours to honor our incredible faculty and staff,” said Dr. Jennifer Methvin, chancellor at ASU-Beebe. “They serve our students with excellence every single day.”
 
Presented in five-year service increments, the highest honor was given to Charlene Chambers and Dr. Connie Nowell for 30 years of service. 
 
Those honored for 20 years of service were Jeff Roland, Jeff Crow, Derrick Holobaugh, Amber Dunn, Tammy Jerdee, and Kim Dailey.      
 
Those honored for 15 years of service were Dr. Joseph Scott, Dr. Dava Brock, Dr. David Jones, Mary Jo Parker, Dr. Richard Smith, Vivian Walters, and Megan Cain.
 
Those honored for 10 years of service were Tamara Cloud, Dr. Brian Weaver, Megan Stane, Tara Hart, Bryan Henry, Dana Goodwin, and Sylvia Hiltz.
 
Those honored for five years of service were Penny Cook, Chad Duncheon, Jakob Lawrence, Clayton Scott, Lisa Crisco, Jennifer Harmon, Thomas Hillman, Marla Smith, Anna Ford, Jerry Smith, Patricia Tober, and Tabatha Jones.
             
In addition, faculty and staff members who recently retired were recognized. Those honored were Dr. Stephen Knapp, professor of English, 32 years of service; Dr. Brent Bristow, professor of music, 18 years of service; Mary Jo Parker, assistant professor of piano/accompanist, 16 years of service; Al Brucks, skilled tradesman, 18 years of service; and Bob Counts, computer lab technician, 17 years of service. 
 
Retiring faculty members honored with emeriti status included Dr. Stephen Knapp, Dr. Brent Bristow and Mary Jo Parker.  
 
Additionally, Robin Johnson, Staff Senate president, presented the Outstanding Staff Award for the Arkansas Community Colleges to Cassidy Davison, lab coordinator for the Math and Science Division. Dr. Kayla Sapkota, Faculty Senate president, presented the Outstanding Faculty Award to Chad Duncheon, associate professor of business, who also received the division award in Career Education. Other division awards were presented to Barbara Castle, assistant professor of English for the Division of Arts and Humanities and Leslie Shults, associate professor of mathematics for the Division of the Division of Math and Science. Sapkota also presented the Because of You Award to Karen Davidson, instructor for Adult Education.
