Let's Make Some Sparks Fly!

Welding Technology degrees prepare students for entry-level positions in a wide range of industries. Industry job include aerospace, automobile manufacturing, shipbuilding or pipeline construction. Welding is the joining of metal together with heat and a filler metal, connecting beams and columns in buildings, bridges, and much more. Students will be introduce to the most commonly used processes: GTAW, SMAW, GMAW and FCAW. The curriculum used for this program centers around the National Center for Construction Education and Research in Welding (NCCER). Students can earn NCCER credentials recorded in a database accessible online by potential employers. In addition, students can earn a certification through the American Welding Society (AWS). Welding Technology classes are on the Searcy and Heber Springs campuses, and offers: a Certificate of Proficiency (8 hrs), a Technical Certificate (30 hrs), and an Associates of Welding Technology degree (60 hrs).

Welding is an important part of our nation’s growth and stability. In fact, a large part of the U.S. economy is dependent on welding, and continued advances in the field help drive our national productivity and strengthen our financial stability.

There are multitudes of career options in the welding industry. Whether you enjoy working with your hands, traveling the world, inspecting and analyzing things, working with numbers, communicating or inspiring others, there is a career opportunity available in the welding industry.

Many of the students have graduated the program to pursue a higher degree, such as Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology, or Welding Engineering. Graduates can expect salaries from $22,600 to $126,300.00.

However, the definition of awards must include successful student certification and graduation, as well as the significant number of medals, certificates, honors and awards received through competition and academic recognition. Students and instructors from the Welding program have a record of 'world class' excellence.

The Continuing Education/Workforce Development Department at ASU-Beebe sponsors numerous non-credit classes that are designed to meet the needs of the general public and business workforce.

Advanced Programs

Through a partnership between A-State and ASUB, students may earn baccalaureate degrees from Arkansas State University by taking coursework at the Degree Center on the Beebe campus.
