Medical Laboratory Technology

Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) prepares you for work in a medical lab under the direction of a pathologist performing procedures in hematology, serology, immunology, chemistry, microbiology, immunohematology and urinalysis.

MLT graduates from ASU-Beebe will obtain skills to:

A graduate can expect to work in pathology laboratories of hospitals or private pathology labs, doctor's offices, reference labs and industries. Work hours may vary with the needs and support of the medical staff. A graduate can also become a sales representative for laboratory supply companies. Eligibility to take the exam for medical laboratory technicians is given by several nationally recognized boards such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and American Medical Technologists (AMT).

The Medical Laboratory Technology program prepares the graduate to function in a variety of settings, including hospital, clinical reference, crime, environmental health, and research laboratories. Other settings may include physicians' clinics and state and regional blood donation centers. The MLT program is fully accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). Program accredited by the NAACLS, 5600 N. *Admittance into the second year of the program is limited to the number of affiliate hospitals and is based upon completion of first year courses and selective admission criteria.*
