Verification

Verification
Verification is a process to confirm the accuracy of the information reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Many students are selected for verification at random. Being selected for verification does not mean that you did anything wrong, but it is important to respond promptly to requests for information. Financial aid eligibility cannot be determined until the verification process has been completed.

How will I be notified if I am selected for verification?

You will be notified that you are selected for verification in one of two ways:

  1. After submitting the FAFSA, you will learn from your Student Aid Report (SAR), which comes from the U.S. Department of Education’s Federal Student Aid (FSA) office.
  2. You will receive an email from ASU-Beebe to your student email address.

If selected for verification, you and your parent(s) or spouse will be asked to provide additional documentation, such as the federal income tax return transcripts from two years ago and other requested forms.

If you were able to import the tax information through the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you are not required to submit a copy of the tax return transcript.

What do I need to do if I am selected for verification?

Review your student portal for which documents you need to submit to the Financial Aid office. Once complete, email finaid@asub.edu the documents or submit them in person to your campus's Financial Aid office.
