The Associate of Science in Education is a two-year degree that prepares students for admission into a four-year K-6 and 4-8 teacher education program or to work in schools as paraprofessionals.

Program Outcomes

  • Understand the foundation of the education system in the United States and the state of Arkansas.  
  • Fulfill ethics in teaching and federal and state laws regarding education.  
  • Develop and demonstrate the knowledge, pedagogical skills and professional dispositions necessary to help all students learn.   
  • Comprehend environmental and hereditary effects on cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and social-linguistic development of typically and atypically developing children from conception to middle childhood of diverse cultural backgrounds within and outside the United States.   
  • Observe and evaluate children's development and recognize developmental delays. 
  • Create strategies to differentiate instruction to meet all student's learning needs.   
  • Comply with laws pertaining to disabled children and special accommodations that education facilities are required to make according to the Americans with Disabilities Act.  
  • Obtain a sound liberal arts education to transition into a bachelor's degree in Teacher Education Program.  
  • Apply the skills and knowledge acquired through observations, classroom activities, class discussions and text to a real-world classroom setting.
