ASU-Beebe Testing Information for Entrance Scores

All applicants for admission are asked to provide the results of an appropriate entrance exam (examples: ACT or SAT) for placement in English and Math courses. Scores may be no more than five years old. Students who do not have ACT or SAT scores have three options for meeting this admission requirement.

ACT Testing:
ACT offers 2 options; the National and Residual tests.

National ACT.
The result of a National ACT are portable, meaning they can be taken to any college. The National ACT is usually administered at high schools. ASU-Beebe does not offer the National ACT. Dates and registration procedures can be found on the web at www.actstudent.org.

Residual ACT.
ASU-Beebe offers the ACT residual examination. These scores are only reported to ASU-Beebe. No Student Reports or High School Reports are generated, and no Additional Score Reports will be generated for reporting scores to any other college, university, or organization.

Registration Procedures

  1. Apply for admission into the University.
  2. Obtain an application for Residual Testing from the ASU-Beebe Admissions office.
  3. Complete the application and make payment at the Cashiers' Window on the first floor of State Hall and keep the pink receipt!
  4. On the test date, bring your registration form, pink receipt, and a picture i.d. for entrance into the testing room.

Testing Fees
The current cost for residual testing is $29.50.

Retest Restriction
If a student tested previously via Residual or any other non-national testing, the retest should be a national test. A minimum of 60 days must elapse before another Residual test may be taken. If the 60-day time limit is violated, the retest scores will be canceled automatically. No refund will be made for such cancelled scores.

Additional information and sample questions are available on the ACT web site at www.act.org/compass.

Students may retest on the Compass twice every 90 days. These two testing dates must be separated by a minimum period of one week.

Calculators
ACT permits examinees to use calculators on the Mathematics test. However, all problems on the test can be solved without using calculators. CLEP® Information:
The rationale for this credit by examination program is as follows: if one has achieved a college level of education in one or more subjects, receiving credit without taking the course(s) rewards this achievement. ASU-Beebe is an open test center, administering College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests to anyone who properly registers. For a registration form, preparatory resources and information on test content, visit www.collegeboard.com/clep.

Scoring Policies
Instant score reports will be generated upon completion of all objective exams. The score recipient selected should be contacted regarding credit awards after two weeks has passed, allowing for an evaluation of the CLEP score. For the English Composition with Essay, a combined score will be received by mail after the Essay is scored, usually one to three weeks after the test date.

Test Fees
Each CLEP examination is $72.00. A separate administration fee in the amount of $20.00 (see Item 16 on the Registration-Admission Form) is required of all non- ASU students. Checks and/or money orders (cash and credit card payments not acceptable) should be made payable to CLEP for the testing fee and should be submitted with the Registration- Admission form to the Coordinator of Testing. For non-ASU students, the administration fee of $20.00 must be paid at the ASU- Beebe Business Office in State Hall prior to the test administration. The CLEP center number and college code for ASU-Beebe that is needed in completing the registration form is 6026.
