Counseling Services at ASU-Searcy are provided through the division of Student Services. Counseling Services adhere to the professional standards and ethical guidelines as required by the American Psychological Association (APA), American Counseling Association (ACA), and American College Personnel Association (ACPA).
Counseling Services are designed to support students in their effort to pursue educational goals. The university environment can be challenging as well as exciting. For some students, it is also stressful. Balancing the demands of family, jobs, and school can be difficult. The goal of counseling is to deal with concerns - before they develop into serious problems.
The Searcy campus has one full-time counselor, who is responsible for providing counseling services. Counseling services include personal and career counseling, outreach programming, crisis intervention, and consultation for faculty and staff. Services are available to currently enrolled students of Arkansas State University-Beebe and Arkansas State University students who are taking classes on our campus, as well as to current faculty and staff. Students needing therapy which is outside of the scope of the services offered at ASU-Searcy will be referred to appropriate agencies. In order to be eligible for services during the semester, a student must be enrolled in at least one credit hour.
The office of Counseling Services is located in the main building in Student Services. The phone number is (501) 207-6212. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00 pm.
While students are welcome to walk in and receive services, it is always advisable to call ahead for an appointment. Services are confidential, free, and available during regular office hours.
