Star Children’s Theater Registration
Published: June 26 2017

Arkansas State University–Beebe Star Children’s Theater is now accepting participants for a four-week class offered this summer.

This year’s production will be “The Phantom Tollbooth,” a play based on the 1961 novel by Norton Juster. The class will be held July 5 to August 4, with registration ending on July 5. The play will be directed by Sandra Williams, instructor of Speech and Theater at ASU-Beebe.

The purpose of the Star Children’s Theater Program is to function as an arts and educational enrichment program, with the primary goal to introduce children to theatre. The program is an affordable and fun way to enrich the community arts experience, teaching participants the basics of acting and scene design, as well as make-up and costume skills, ending with a public performance for friends and family.

Practices will be held Monday through Thursday, 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Owen Center Auditorium. Children between the ages of 8 through 16 may participate. Space is limited to 20 participants.

Registration forms are available at the Cashier’s Office in the State Hall Building, on the Beebe campus, or call 501-882-8850. The cost is $50 per child and will cover the basic supplies. For details, contact Sandra Williams at 501-882-4493 or email sfwilliams@asub.edu.
