Registration for ASU-Beebe’s 2019 Vanguard Discovery Camp (VDC) is now open! Science, engineering, technology, and math (STEM) fields are becoming more and more popular for good reason…they’re hands-on, engaging, challenging and can provide solid job opportunities.

If your student is interested in STEM and wants to learn new concepts or practice and hone skills, ASU-Beebe’s Vanguard Discovery Camp (VDC) offers a series of fun STEM-related courses designed for students entering the fourth through eighth grades. New for 2019 we are introducing a “Young Engineers” camp session on the Searcy campus, aimed at students entering ninth through eleventh grades.

Discovery Camp debuted last summer with six week-long sessions spanning June and July, and included 218 students across the three campuses, 13 course offerings, 23 instructors and assistants, 12 open houses, more than 300 snacks and 12 local sponsors.  And, we’re ready to do it again with a “bigger and better” experience planned for 2019!

This summer’s Vanguard Discovery Camp schedule is filled with diverse offerings such as: Crime Lab, Bake Like a Boss (from a science perspective), Drone Tech (Beginner and Advanced), Lego® Robotics (Beginner and Advanced), 3D Printing-Makers Lab, as well as classes from Black Rocket including: Virtual Reality, Roblox® Makers, Sticks and Bricks Stop Animation, Battle Royal - Making Your Own Fortnite® Style Video Game, eSports Apprentice – YouTube© Streamers and Gamers, etc.

With summer quickly approaching, it is time to plan how your kids will spend their days. If you would rather they not stare at their electronics all summer, offer your children something they will really enjoy. Vanguard Discovery Camp is devoted to making learning STEM fields extraordinarily fun!

This day camp engages campers in a weeklong experience filled with intrigue, creativity and challenge. Students will have the opportunity to build unique technology, learn through hands-on involvement, engage in exploration, embark on positive experiences and possibly set on a trajectory toward a rewarding future career.  Although structured, the environment of Vanguard Discovery Camp is non-pressure, where kids can participate in relaxed, affirming surroundings while building lasting relationships. The focus of VDC is to ignite a desire for life-long learning and ultimately, camp should be fun!
