2020 Vanguard Discovery Camp

Registration for the ASU-Beebe 2020 Vanguard Discovery Camp (VDC) is now open! The Vanguard Discovery Camp has become incredibly popular for good reasons: It’s hands-on, engaging, challenging, and empowering.

March 6, 2020

The Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (S.T.E.A.M.) modules introduces the next generation to the world around them in a fun and interactive way, while also providing exposure to vast career fields and technology concepts.

“At ASU-Beebe, we strive to create an environment where kids can have fun, make new friends, develop new skills, boost self-confidence and explore their potential with activities related to science, technology, engineering, art and math,” said Leonard Mesa, Director of Workforce and Community Development.

This day-camp format engages campers in week-long sessions filled with intrigue, creativity, and challenge. Students will have the opportunity to build unique technology, learn through hands-on involvement, explore robotics and drone technology, and embark on positive experiences that set them on a trajectory toward a rewarding, future career.

The Vanguard Discovery Camp, though structured, provides a no-pressure learning environment: Students participate in relaxed, affirming surroundings where they build lasting relationships. The focus is to ignite a desire for life-long learning.

The 2020 Vanguard Discovery Camp schedule offers diverse choices, such as: Bake Like a Boss, Legends of the SeaPerch, What on Earth?!, Baking Around the World, Drone Flight School, 3-D Printing Master Makers, Pulse Week, Manufacturing M.Y. Future Camp, and Pet VET. New camps this year in the arts: SmArt Camp and Lights, Camera, ACTION!.

Vanguard Discovery Camp is offered for two weeks at each of the following ASU-Beebe campus locations: Beebe, Heber Springs, and Searcy. Many of these sessions involve classroom time. Students will learn STEM-related competencies, making this a camp that they’ll want to attend.

This year’s summer camps will begin at the ASU-Beebe Heber Springs Campus, with the first session to be held Monday, June 1 to Friday, June 5 and the second session set for Monday, June 8 to Friday, June 12.

The second iteration of the Vanguard Discovery Camp will be held at the ASU-Beebe Searcy campus from Monday, June 15 to Friday, June 19. The second week at the Searcy campus will be held Monday, June 22 to Friday, June 26.

The Vanguard Discovery Camp moves to the ASU-Beebe main campus starting Monday, July 6 to Friday July 10. The second week at the Beebe campus will be held Monday, July 13 to Friday, July 17.

Students can attend half-day sessions – mornings from 8 a.m. to noon or afternoons from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. – or choose to spend the entire day.
