The Arkansas State University–Beebe Art Department artworks of Tom Richard will be on display in the art exhibit “Peeps, People, Guys, Guns” through October 31 in the England Center Art Gallery.
Tom Richard artworks consist of paintings and drawings that explore issues of identity and history, combining images of toys and art historical references with philosophical and pop culture quotes.
Richard is a professor of art at the University of Arkansas in Monticello, and described his works as ‘addressing issues of history, making history, identity, and making identity through use of images of toys from my childhood among both spontaneous and planned acts of painting with specific art historical references.’
ASU-Beebe is the only two-year college in central Arkansas that offers an Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) degree. The AFA degree has an emphasis in vocal music or instrumental music, theater, graphic design, or creative arts enterprise. This degree is a comprehensive two-year curriculum designed specifically for transfer toward a bachelor’s degree in fine arts.
