The Staff Senate at Arkansas State University-Beebe recently presented the Third Quarter Shining Star Award to Linda Johnson, Administrative Specialist for the Math and Science Division.
Johnson was nominated for the Shining Star Award for going beyond her normal job duties to personally maintain a checklist of students and class openings in the Math and Science Division. One of the nominators remarked, “I have even seen her take the list home so she could monitor the class.”
Johnson began her career with ASU-Beebe 13 years ago, first as a cashier and then in accounts payable. She has been noted for her ability to maintain a calm, pleasant, and professional attitude when assisting students, faculty, and staff. Another nominator remarked that ‘she is a motivator and an inspiration to students and faculty alike.’
On receiving the Shining Star award, Johnson said, “We strive to make sure students are on the right path and are being given every opportunity to excel academically. We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”
The Staff Senate presents the award each quarter to an outstanding staff or faculty member who ‘shines like a star, inspires others, and contributes to the University’s success.’ Nominations are made by students, faculty, and staff.
