To coordinate academic advising across ASU Beebe campuses for students who have not decided on a major and to assist with providing comprehensive counseling services for the University community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Cooordinate academic advising for students who have not decided on a major.
2. Provide psychological counseling to students on a wide range of mental health, personal and academic issues. This duty is performed Daily.
3. Present student success workshops and participates in new student orientation. This duty is performed Monthly.
4. Administer Myers Briggs and other personality tests for University community. This duty is performed Irregularly.
5. Participate in professional and staff development trainings. This duty is performed Monthly.
6. Provide outreach support services promoting self growth and academic success to classes, student organizations, student groups, residential life. This duty is performed Irregularly.
7. Coordinate and assist with providing academic advisor trainings for the University community. This duty is performed Irregularly.
8. Participate in campus wide committees in order to improve student success and retention. This duty is performed Irregularly.
9. Maintain advising budget. This duty is performed Irregularly.
10. Works cooperatively with other offices and campuses responsible for the delivery of support services to students. This duty is performed Monthly.
11. Provides intrusive academic advisement and assists students in making long range educational goals. This duty is performed Daily.
12. Develop and assist with programs and projects related to student success and retention. This duty is performed Irregularly.
13. Coordinate referrals and communications with off campus service providers for long term and specialized mental health services. This duty is performed Irregularly.
14. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate degree (M.B.A., M.A., etc.), plus 2 years related experience and/or training, and 7 to 11 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Minimum of a Master's Degree in one of the following fields: counseling, psychology, counselor education, student personnel services or related field.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Academic advising and post-secondary counseling experience and licensure strongly preferred.
