Introduction

First and foremost, the student is solely responsible for securing an acceptable test proctor in sufficient time for testing. Instructors are not compelled to approve any choice of proctor.

Requirements

Test proctors must be of unquestioned integrity. ASU-Beebe requries that proctors be one of the following:

  1. Faculty, administrative staff, or student services staff of an institution of higher education.
  2. K−12 administration or counseling staff.
  3. Duly assigned official in a military educational office.
  4. Law enforcement administration.

Guidelines

  1. The proctor may not be related to the test-taking student.
  2. The proctor must have access to appropriate technology (fax, mail, email, etc.).
  3. The student will be responsible for paying any institutional testing fees that may be incurred by testing.

Note: It is the instructor's right and responsibility to approve the proctor. Satisfaction of the above guidelines does not guarantee such approval.

Protocols

As stated before, the student is fully responsible for finding a suitable proctor. To secure test proctoring, the student must take the following steps:

  1. The student should make contact with potential proctors until a suitable proctor is found.
  2. The student then gives the proctor information to complete the online Test Proctoring Form.
  3. The instructor reviews this information, makes contact, and determines the suitability of the proctoring arrangements.
  4. The instructor is responsible for further contact with the proctor. It is the instructor's responsibility to inform the proctor of all necessary information regarding proctored exams including:
    1. Allowed settings (isolation, etc.)
    2. Allowable supplements to use during the exam (if any)
    3. Testing time frame
    4. Instructions for return of the completed exam
    5. Instructions for storage or disposal of any residual items
  5. The proctor is responsible for the following:
    1. Receiving and maintaining security of course materials
    2. Verifying student identification by checking official picture identification.
    3. Following instructor instructions for test delivery
    4. Returning the exam to the Instructor as soon as possible
