My academic and professional interests have centered on how our bodies defend against infection by disease-causing bacteria and viruses. My past research experiences have been in areas including the study of host-microbe interactions, immunity, inflammation, and cancer cell growth. I enjoy teaching biology and microbiology because these subjects apply to everyone’s lives. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends, reading, hiking and playing golf.
