Ronald Russ

Electronic & Public Services Librarian

MLS, State University of New York at Buffalo, 1993
BA, State University of New York at Binghamton, 1989

If I want to start at the beginning, I'd have to go back to elementary school where I assisted the school library media specialist, especially with AV materials. Later in high school, I worked as a special projects programmer, dealing specifically with their Apple IIc computer. In graduate school, I worked at the Lockwood Memorial Library, specifically in the Business/Documents/Microforms division. Besides providing reference assistance, I was also responsible for weeding the Canadian document depository. My first job as librarian was in the Brooklyn Public Library system from 1993-1996. Did a wide variety of things there from reading books to children to adult book discussions. In the fall of 1996, I was a temporary reference librarian at the William F. Laman Public Library in North Little Rock, AR. Less than a year later, I was hired as a reference librarian at ASU-Beebe, where I've been employed ever since. My responsibilities include information literacy and online database instruction, maintaining the library computer lab, assisting in the research process, content provider for ASU-Beebe website and Canvas library module, among others. In addition to my paid work, I've served in various volunteer capacities in state and national library organizations including Arkansas Chapter Councilor, American Library Association, President, ARKLInk Library Consortium, Web Services Committee Chair/Webmaster, Arkansas Library Association, among others.

While I'm not an Arkansas native, I have lived here for over 20 years. I especially enjoy nature and wildlife, especially birds. Even when you live in a big city, you're not too far away from nature here. In addition, hobbies that I enjoy include grilling, jazz music, photography, birding, and baseball.
