I joined ASU-Beebe as an adjunct instructor (January 2001 to August 2005. I became a full-time instructor in August 2005 and I still teach today.
I have been extremely fortunate to experience many hobbies and activities in my life. I worked for international, national, regional, and local companies before I retired from the practice of law and accounting. I am a former airshow pilot and announcer. More recently, I was a Certified Rider Coach for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, teaching over 1,000 people to ride motorcycles safely. I grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where we took full advantage of the lakes in the area to camp, fish, water ski, and SCUBA dive. I love playing golf, even though I was never very good at it. And I love teaching college! Seeing my students reminds me of myself when I was going through college. I especially like when I can share personal experiences to illustrate the relevance and importance of concepts covered in course material. When I grow up, I want to be a fireman.
My lifelong passion is playing music. My dad always filled our house with music from the swing era of the 1940’s through the big band era of the 1960’s. That’s where I learned to love the bass. My dream was to learn to play the upright, “dog house” bass. But, like so many other musicians of my generation, seeing The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show in February of 1964 changed my perspective and my musical goals. My obsession became the bass guitar. I began playing in bands when I was 13. That was over 50 years ago, and I’m still playing regularly in church, as well as local bands and any chance to just jam with other musicians.
