Admissions

International Student Admissions

Since 2003, Arkansas State University–Beebe has welcomed students from more than 30 different countries.  ASU-Beebe values the diversity that international students bring to campus. Interaction between students from different backgrounds and experiences create a more dynamic learning environment.  ASU-Beebe accepts only international students with F-1 Visas.  To seek admission to ASU-Beebe students must submit the following documents:

Application for Admission

You can complete the Admissions Online Application. Students without a social security number must request a student identification number in order to submit the application.
In order to request an ID number, students must go to the International Information Request Form button at the bottom of this page to request it. Make sure to provide a valid email address and the number will be sent to you.

High School/College Transcript

A transcript is a record of a student's history and performance at a particular academic institution. In other countries, these documents may be called by different names (Leaving Certificate, Maturity Certificate, Bachillerato, Baccalauréat, etc.). Transcripts issued outside of the United States must be translated to English. You do not have to submit a high school transcript if you have attended college.

English Proficiency

Students must provide evidence of the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently for the successful completion of college level coursework.  Students must have the proper English Proficiency test scores for admission to ASU-Beebe. TOEFL paper score of 500, computer based score of 173, or Internet based score of 63 are satisfactory for admission to the university.  An IELTS of 5.0 will be considered equivalent to the TOEFL score. Students can schedule IBT Internet based test by going to www.ets.com.
Transfer students from U.S. colleges and universities, must provide one of the above mentioned documents or an official transcript showing successful completion of college-level English Composition I and English Composition II with a grade of C or better.

Placement Exam

All applicants must complete the ACT, SAT or COMPASS exam. Students who have not completed the ACT or SAT may take the COMPASS examination upon arrival at the university.

Proof of Financial Stability

Students and/or their sponsor must submit a formal letter to the Office of Admissions stating that they promise to pay your tuition, fees, room and board, books, and all other expenses while you are studying in the U.S.  You must turn in your recent bank statement (within three months of present day) showing a balance of $15,000.00 U.S. dollars for one year of studies.

Immunization Records

ASU-Beebe requires proof of immunization against Measles, Mumps, and Rubella and a tuberculosis (T-Spot) screening. Students must have two (2) measles, mumps, and rubella vaccinations and receive a blood draw for the T-Spot.

International Health Insurance

International students are required by the US government to have health insurance. Students are required to enroll in LewerMark Student Insurance provided through ASU-Beebe. Information can be found at www.lewermark.com/asub.

The cost of the insurance is charged to the student's account and can be paid through the Cashier's Office like tuition and fees. The health insurance does not cover students in their home country. Therefore students can choose to have a second policy but they are still required to purchase insurance through ASU-Beebe.

Housing

Initial entry and transfer international students are required to live on-campus for the first year.  Students may be permitted to live off campus, if they live with an approved host family, are married or have children.
For more details about on-campus housing, visit here

Tuition and Fees

Tuition and fees are due at the beginning of each semester.  ASU-Beebe does not have payment plan options for international students.

Employment

International students are allowed to work on-campus, but employment opportunities are limited.  Working off-campus without proper authorization will result in termination of a student’s F-1 visa status.

Course Requirements

International students are required to take a full course of study each semester.   A full course of study means that a student must be enrolled in at least twelve (12) credit hours each semester.  Students who drop below twelve (12) hours without proper authorization will be in violation of their F-1 visa status and could be terminated.  International students can only enroll in one (1) online class per semester.
Information about our campus, tuition, and fees for international students and other important information are available through this website.  Once the Office of Admissions receives your required documentation, you will receive an acceptance letter and an I-20.  Transfer students must also submit a completed transfer request form.  Tuition and fees can be found here.

Acceptance of Transfer Credit

Transfer credit may be accepted from students who present official transcripts of college level credit from institutions recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. These grades must be equivalent to a C (2.0) average and the credit must be applicable toward requirements for a degree at our institution. (Note: Grades of "D" or better will be accepted from other campuses within the ASU System.) The University Registrar reserves the right to accept or deny transfer credits to ASU-Beebe based on the transfer institutions academic policies. Transfer of English courses will not be accepted from international institutions. This policy is normally waived for citizens of the British Isles, Australia, the English speaking portions of Canada, and New Zealand.
Official transcripts should be submitted to the Office of Admissions at the time of application to ASU-Beebe. Official transcripts will be evaluated by the University Registrar. Final approval of transfer credits rests with the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Courses accepted for transfer credit will be posted to the student’s ASU-Beebe transcript with the grade earned and the transfer institution's course identifier and title. Transfer credit is not calculated as part of the student’s ASU-Beebe cumulative GPA. Credits earned will only be reflected in hours earned and may be used for degree requirements. Only eight hours of technical credit may be used for elective requirements in the Associate of Arts degree. Determination of technical credit will be made by the University Registrar.
Students must complete a minimum of 15 credit hours at ASU-Beebe to be eligible for an ASU-Beebe degree.

International Transcripts

The requirements for submitting international transcripts and academic records for transfer credit evaluation are as follows:

  • A course by course credential evaluation by a credential evaluation agency
  • The official evaluation must be mailed directly from the agency to the Office of Admissions at ASU-Beebe
  • Credential evaluation agencies include:
    NACES
    AACRAO
    WES

NOTE:  Although your credential evaluation may indicate that you have completed a significant number of credit hours, ASU-Beebe will only accept those credits, which satisfy its degree requirements.
