The State of Arkansas requires a person working in the electrical field to either have a journeyman or master electrician license or be enrolled in an approved electrical apprenticeship program working toward that goal. At ASU-Beebe Heber Springs, a four-year Electrical Apprenticeship program is offered. The program is designed for those working in the electrical field and interested in obtaining an electrical journeyman's license. The courses are taught by instructors with years of combined experience in the field and in the classroom based on a program designed by a local electrical committee with approval by the Arkansas Department of Career Education State Apprenticeship Office.
To qualify for the electrical apprenticeship program, students must be employed by a master electrician and gaining 2000 on-the-job training hours per year. Once employed under the supervision of a master electrician, a student has thirty (30) days to enroll in a state approved apprenticeship program.
