8 Keys to Veterans' Success

ASU Beebe campuses have adopted the 8 Keys to Veterans’ Success and are committed to implement the practices outlined in the 8 Keys, as follows:

  • Create a culture of trust and connectedness across the campus community to promote well-being and success for veterans.

  • Ensure consistent and sustained support from campus leadership.

  • Implement an early alert system to ensure all veterans receive academic, career, and financial advice before challenges become overwhelming.

  • Coordinate and centralize campus efforts for all veterans, together with the creation of a designated space for them (even if limited in size).

  • Collaborate with local communities and organizations, including government agencies, to align and coordinate various services for veterans.

  • Utilize a uniform set of data tools to collect and track information on veterans, including demographics, retention, and degree completion.

  • Provide comprehensive professional development for faculty and staff on issues and challenges unique to veterans.

  • Develop systems that ensure sustainability of effective practices for veterans.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my MYCAA at ASU Beebe Campuses?

Yes. Once you have registered with MYCAA and have their approval, MYCAA sends ASUB your information. You should register for your classes before you apply for MYCAA because you must give them specific cost information.

Do I need to do anything after I have submitted my VA Certification Request each semester?

Chapter 30, 1606, and 1607 students must verify enrollment the last day of each month they are enrolled at ASUB. Delay of benefits can occur if this is not done each month. Go online at www.gibill.va.gov/wave/index.do OR Call 877-823-2378 to verify your attendance. Verifying your attendance releases your funds to the Treasury.

When should I receive my payments from the VA?

The VA sends the funds to the Treasury on the last day of the month. If you have direct deposit, they predict you should see it in your account within 3-5 business days. If you are receiving a paper check, allow 7-10 business days. If you have not received your payments within this time frame, call the VA 1-888-442-4551.

I didn’t set up direct deposit, but I would like to now. Who do I contact?

Direct Deposit: 1-877-838-2778. Have your routing number and account number ready when you call.  NOTE: this number can also be used for Change of Address.

What ASU-Beebe Offers

ASU Beebe works with the Department of Veterans Affairs as well as other federal and state agencies to provide educational assistance to those who have served our country. Once you are ready to enroll at ASU - Beebe Campuses, the Veterans Services office is your one stop for assistance with application to the college, your educational benefits, and other sources of financial aid.

We will assist veterans and eligible dependents with the filing of required documents for educational benefits with the Veterans Administration as well as assisting with applying for other education benefits. (LRAFB by appointment)

Tuition Policy for Military Students

Military members and their dependents will be charged in-state tuition no matter what their resident circumstances (e.g., where they reside or whether the course is online versus in class). This will allow our military students to have as little out-of-pocket expenses as possible.

Graduation Honor Cords

In recognition of your military service to the United States of America, Arkansas State University - Beebe honors your service and your graduation by providing red, white, and blue honor cords for you to wear as a part of your regalia during your commencement ceremony.

Eligibility:

If you qualify for graduation and are an honorably discharged U.S. veteran or are currently serving in the U.S. military on active duty (Active Duty, National Guard, or Reserves), you are authorized to wear Military Honor Cords.

Distribution:

Cords may be picked up from the counselor’s office, McKay Student Center, room 202E.

The cords are provided to you at no cost by ASUB Student Services.
