Welder cutting steel

Welding Technology

Let's Make Some Sparks Fly!

While welding may sound simple, welding actually requires a high level of skill and training. Training in the Welding Technology Program prepares students to work in a wide range of areas, such as shipbuilding, aerospace technology, automobile manufacturing, or working on the pipeline. Welding is used to connect beams and structures in buildings, bridges, and much more. This means the potential opportunities for employment are even greater than expected. With over 100 types of welding methods available, Welding Technology will introduce the student to the most commonly used methods, such as TIG, MIG, Soldering, and brazing by a certified welding inspector. The student will be introduced to a various techniques, such as flat, horizontal, overhead, and vertical welding. The coursework will teach the student the difference between manual, semi-automated, and automated welding. Students in the welding program can earn a certification in welding through the American Welding Society (AWS) and the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). The Welding Program is offered on the Searcy and Heber Springs Campuses and offers a one-year Technical Certificate with a Certificate of Proficiency as well as a two-year Associate of Applied Science in General Technology or Welding Technology Degree.

Why Choose Welding?

Students are taught by a team of instructors committed to transforming lives for the better - by teaching real world skills that will equip students to set and reach high goals. Many of the students have graduated the program to pursue a higher degree, such as Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology, or Welding Engineering. Graduates can expect salaries from $22,600 to $126,300.00.

Our claim to fame is directly tied to the numerous awards we’ve achieved. However, the definition of awards must include successful student certification and graduation, as well as the significant number of medals, certificates, honors and awards received through competition and academic recognition.
