Online College: Get Started

Step 1: Apply to be admitted

Once you decide that taking online classes is for you, apply for admission to ASUB.

Step 2: Visit with your Advisor

After you have been admitted, you will be assigned an advisor to help you pursue your academic goals.

Step 3: Enroll in your classes

To sign up for classes, log in to the Vanguard Portal via mycampus.asub.edu. Your username will be your firstname.lastname@smail.asub.edu. Your password will be the first initial of your first name (UPPERCASE), the first initial of your last name (lowercase), your 8-digit birth date (MMDDYY), followed by an exclamation point (!). Example: John Doe’s user name is john.doe@smail.asub.edu. If his birthdate is June 28, 1999, his password will be Jd06281999!. If you have trouble with this, contact our IT department at helpdesk@asub.edu or call 501.882.8999.

Step 4: Buy your textbooks

Most online classes require a textbook. You can buy these directly from the bookstore at one of our campus locations or through other resources.  It is your responsibility to purchase the right book and have it available within the first few days of class.

Step 5: Go through the Blackboard Online Orientation

You are required to go through the Blackboard Online Orientation before your classes start.  You should have access to this within two weeks of classes starting.  It will take you about one hour to complete.

Step 6: Log in to your classes within Blackboard on the first day

Online classes will be visible to students two days prior to the beginning of the semester/term. You MUST log in to your online classes on the first day of classes (or the first day after you have enrolled during the add/drop period). To access Blackboard, log in to the Vanguard Portal via mycampus.asub.edu. Once inside of the portal, you will see the Blackboard link. Just click on it and you will be inside of Blackboard. If you click on the link and it doesn't work, contact the Bb Help Desk at 501.882.4409.

Step 7: Need Help?

For general questions - contact the Educational Technology office at 501.882.8894 or email  ASUBONLINE.

For course content questions - contact the instructor.

For technical questions or help with logging in to Bb - contact the Bb Help Desk at 501.882.4409 or email BbHelpDesk (you must use your ASUB email address to send the email since it is an internal account).

The Bb Help Desk is open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The help desk is closed on holidays and when classes are not in session. In the event of inclement weather the help desk will be closed if the Beebe campus is closed.
