The Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT), and Associate of Science (AS) degrees are general transfer degrees. They do not officially include a major or minor course of study. With an AA, AAT or AS from ASUB, a student can transfer to any Arkansas public 4-year school with junior class status and be guaranteed that the lower division general education core requirements have been completed for the transfer school.

Thinking of Transferring? Use the Arkansas Course Transfer System (ACTS) from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education to see how your classes transfer.

Associate of General Studies

An Associate of General Studies (AGS) is like a steppingstone degree. It provides you with the Associate's credential and a foundation of knowledge and skills to move to higher degrees if you choose. It provides you with basic knowledge of math, English, science and history. It is not guaranteed to transfer to an Arkansas 4-year school.

Associate of Science

 Associate of Applied Science

The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) is an occupational degree and is the only degree ASUB awards with a specified area of emphasis. It is not intended to transfer to a 4-year school.

Technical Certificate Programs:

Technical Certificate programs provide streamlined training in select occupational fields. Students in these programs earn technical credit, but courses are not considered college credit and are not transferable to another university. Upon successful completion, students are eligible for positions in the field or are prepared to take necessary licensing exams for certification.

Certificate of Proficiency Programs:

A Certificate of Proficiency is a course of study that provides an overall certificate from the University that generally leads to a new career or enhances a person's skill set to make him/her more productive and marketable.
